Trailer Magic

Trailer Magic is a repair and restoration shop based in Carson City, Nevada, at 301 Hot Springs Rd. #7. You bring the trailer to the shop rather than having anyone come to you.

It works only on vintage travel trailers, and says "we restore and repair all makes of vintage travel trailers." The jobs it names are rot repair, water damage repair, aluminum skin replacement, bathroom installs, electrical updates, window and rail resealing and plumbing updates, which covers most of what goes wrong with an old trailer's wood frame, skin and systems over the decades. It also keeps vintage trailers in need of restoration for sale, for someone who wants a project rather than a repair.

No hours or pricing are published, so ask about cost and turnaround when you call. There is no trip fee to ask about since the shop works on a bring-it-to-us basis, not a mobile one.

The shop is run by Rob and Mechelle. Rob grew up working in a mill and working with wood, which matters for a trade built on rot repair and skin replacement on old aluminum and wood-framed trailers. Mechelle handles the mid-century interior design side, useful if the project is as much about getting the look right as it is about getting it watertight. They travel to west coast vintage trailer rallies over the summer, which is a sign of where their interest and expertise actually sits.

This is a good fit for an owner of a vintage trailer, Shasta, Silver Streak, Holiday House and the like, who needs rot, water damage or skin work done right rather than a quick patch, and who does not mind hauling the trailer to Carson City to get it there.
