Summit Automotive

Summit Automotive is an auto, van, truck, RV repair and service shop based in Buena Vista, Colorado, one block north of Highway 24/285 in Johnson Village. It does not say whether it comes to your rig or you bring it to the shop, so ask when you call.

It works on diagnostics, tune-ups, brakes, steering and suspension, complete inspections with oil changes, carburetor rebuilds, power window repair, transmission service and flushing, and fuel injection service, alongside its RV work. It serves Buena Vista, Fairplay, Hartsel, Leadville and Salida.

No trip fee, hourly rate or diagnostic fee is published, so ask about the trip fee and the hourly rate when you call, along with what it charges to look at an RV problem before you commit to anything. Shop hours run Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 5:30, with Saturday appointments available, which helps if a weekday drop-off does not fit your schedule.

Summit Automotive calls itself "Licensed and Insured" and points to 40 years of experience in the shop. The owner, Larry Glavinich, is named directly, which is worth something when you are trying to reach an actual decision-maker instead of a call center. Google rates it 4.9 stars from 61 reviews.

This is a good fit for an owner in the Buena Vista, Salida or Leadville area who wants a long-running local shop for general repair work and is willing to call ahead and confirm the details on RV service, since the RV systems and brands it handles are not spelled out.
