Tom Schaeffer's Camping and Travel Center

Tom Schaeffer's Camping and Travel Center is an RV dealer with its own service department, based in Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania. You bring the RV to its shop at 1236 Pottsville Pike, where it handles maintenance, repairs, upgrades and accessory installation.

It works on campers, travel trailers and motorhomes, including Class A, Class B, Class B+ and Class C motorhomes, fifth wheels and toy haulers. The shop also carries RV propane service and an in-house accessory department, so bike racks and awnings can be added at the same visit as a repair. It is listed as an authorized service provider for a long list of manufacturer brands, including Grand Design, Keystone, Dutchmen and Forest River lines, which matters if you want warranty work done by someone the manufacturer recognizes.

No hourly rate, trip fee or diagnostic fee is published, so ask about those costs when you call to schedule. Service hours run Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturday from 8am to noon, closed Sunday.

The shop has been serving RV owners for 70 years and describes its facility as "the one stop shop for all of your servicing and maintenance needs," pointing to 25 separate service bays and a 55-foot downdraft paint booth. That kind of capacity matters for bigger jobs, like body or collision repair, that a smaller shop might have to send out.

This is a good fit for an owner near Shoemakersville or Hamburg who wants a full-service shop able to handle everything from routine maintenance to body work and accessory upgrades in one place, rather than juggling multiple specialists.
