ARO RV-ROOFING

ARO RV-Roofing is a camper roof repair and replacement company based in Diamond, Ohio. All of its work is done in its own climate controlled facility in NE Ohio, at 3450 State Rt. 225, so you bring the camper to the shop. It does not say whether it comes to campsites or driveways, so ask before you plan around that.

It works on camper roofs in three areas: roof membrane replacement, repairs and preventive maintenance, and roof coatings. A membrane replacement removes the old roof, inspects and replaces damaged decking or insulation, and installs "heavier, more durable 60 mil membranes" in place of the original thin 30 mil factory roof. The inspection is the step to ask about. A new membrane over rotted wood or wet insulation will fail early, so a shop that checks what is underneath is working on what decides how long the roof lasts. Coatings go only on membrane that is stable and not leaking.

No prices or hours are published, so ask about cost when you call. The company advertises "We Give Free Estimates," so ask for one and ask what it covers. No warranty is named, and nothing says whether it is licensed or insured, so ask about both.

The founder, Rusty, has spent the last 35 years in commercial roofing, founding his own company and working for a large commercial roofing corporation before turning to camper roofs.

This is a good fit for an owner whose camper roof needs a membrane replacement or a leak repaired, who can bring the camper to Diamond, and who wants the decking checked before paying for a new roof. It is a poor fit for a traveler stuck on the road, since all work happens at the shop.
