New River Tire

New River Tire is a tire shop and automotive service center based in Boone, NC, at 2872 Old Hwy 421 South. It calls itself a "family-owned and operated tire shop and automotive service center" and has been "Boone's choice" since 1994. Its main trade is tires and car and truck repair, with RV work as one of several listed services. It does not say whether it comes to your campsite or driveway, so ask when you call.

Its RV pitch is "Our RV and motorhome technicians have the right combination of knowledge and hands-on experience to keep your vehicle rolling as the manufacturer intended." The RV services it lists are A/C service, alignments, brake repair, engine diagnostics and repairs, oil change, preventive maintenance, suspension work, and tire repair and maintenance. Motorhome is the only RV type named, so a travel trailer or fifth wheel owner should confirm first. It offers tires from Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal, Bridgestone and Firestone. Its service area is "Boone, NC, Rutherwood, NC, Bamboo, NC, and surrounding areas."

No RV prices, trip fee or hourly rate are published, and no hours are shown, so call (828) 262-3700 and ask about the trip fee and the hours before you go. For tire repair, the listed price is "Get Quote for Price." Its tire repair guidance follows Rubber Manufacturer's Association rules, under which a tread puncture of "¼ inch or smaller" can be repaired. The sooner a damaged tire comes in, the better its chance of being saved.

The certification named is ASE, listed as "ASE-Certified Award Winning Service." ASE tests technicians in specific automotive repair areas, so it speaks more to the car and truck side of the shop than to RV systems. Alignment work is done on a Hunter Engineering Company alignment machine. No licensing, insurance or warranty statement appears, so ask about those too. On Google it is rated 4.8 stars from 128 reviews.

This is a good fit for an RV owner in Boone, Rutherwood or Bamboo with a motorhome who needs tires, brakes, an alignment or an A/C check and is willing to call ahead for the price.
