Atlantic Custom Coach

Atlantic Custom Coach is a specialty automotive upfitter based at 1505 Route 9 North in Cape May Court House, New Jersey. Its main work is "Custom Upfitting of Motorcoach/RV's, Race Trailers & Transporters," which means adding and changing systems in a coach rather than routine repair. Ask whether it comes to your site or whether you bring the rig to its shop.

It lists custom HVAC, AC and DC electrical systems, mobile kitchens, Aquahot and Oasis heating, Girard and Dometic awnings, LED lighting, vehicle wraps, metal fabrication and welding. Prevost, Girard, Dometic, Aquahot and Oasis are the brands it names, and it says "modern Prevost Coaches is our specialty." It also lists "Emergency Repairs" without saying what that covers, so ask before you count on it for a breakdown.

It does not publish a trip fee, hourly rate, diagnostic fee or job prices, so ask about the trip fee and the hourly rate when you call. Its hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, Eastern time, with no after-hours or emergency hours listed.

Before you commit, ask for licensing and proof of insurance, a written warranty on the work, and the names of the techs who will do it. For a coach that will sit in the bay for weeks, those answers matter before anything comes apart. Google rates it 5 stars from 2 reviews.

This is a good fit for an owner planning a custom interior, an electrical or HVAC upgrade, or new awnings or LED lighting on a Prevost or other motorcoach, who can leave the rig for a weekday. A traveler with a broken slide-out or refrigerator at a campground will want a different shop.
