Goodwin Motors Inc.

Goodwin Motors Inc. is a car and truck repair shop based in Houghton, Michigan, at 46445 US-41. You bring the RV to the shop. It also offers free local pickup and delivery for repairs by appointment, but it does not say whether that covers an RV, so ask.

Its RV line promises that it will "specialize in handling the unique needs of RVs." It names no RV systems, types or brands, and it does not mention slide-outs, refrigerators, generators or roofs. The services it names are brakes, AC repair, transmission, electrical and 4x4 work, plus trailer hitches, wiring and tires. It serves Houghton, Atlantic Mine, South Range, Painesdale, Chassel, Toivola, Baraga, Twin Lakes and Calumet.

Goodwin does not publish an RV labor rate or a trip fee, so ask about both when you call. It promises "a straight-forward estimate before beginning any repairs." It is open 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday, by appointment on Saturday, and closed Sunday. After-hours drop-off is available with a form and a secure key box, and repairs "can often be completed on the same day."

Goodwin has provided "five-star auto repair since 1971," and it offers "a guarantee you can take to the bank" on its work. It names no certifications and says nothing about licensing or insurance, so ask what RV experience the tech has and whether the shop is licensed and insured. Google rates it 4.9 from 91 reviews.

This is a good fit for an owner near Houghton who wants a car or truck and an RV looked at by one shop, with an estimate before work starts. It is a poor fit for a traveler stuck at a campground who needs someone to come out, unless Goodwin confirms the pickup offer covers an RV.
