Keys Hitch King

Keys Hitch King is a trailer repair and hitch installation shop based on Stock Island, just outside Key West. It also sells new and used trailers and runs a mobile unit, so you can bring the trailer to its shop at 5635 4th Avenue, or it can come to you.

Its work is on trailers: brake and axle repairs, bearing work, electrical diagnostics, welding and frame repair, hitch installation, tires and safety inspections. It names campers and RV travelers among the people it serves, but the trailers it describes are boat, utility and cargo trailers, and it does not describe work on motorhomes. Its mobile service covers Key West and the Lower Keys, and it lists "Emergency roadside trailer service." Ask whether it will work on your motorhome before you book.

It does not publish a trip fee or hourly rate. It does offer a "free estimate" when you call or stop by. Its posted hours are Monday through Saturday, 9am to 6pm, and no after-hours or Sunday service is posted. Before you book, ask about the trip fee, whether it will come past the Lower Keys, and whether it can come out after 6pm.

It advertises "20 years of Experience" but names no certifications, licensing, insurance or warranty, so check those on the phone. One camper owner wrote that the tech was "at our campsite within an hour," which matters because a trailer with a failed brake or bearing often cannot be towed safely to a shop.

This is a good fit for an owner with a boat, utility or camper trailer in Key West or the Lower Keys who needs brakes, bearings, a hitch or a tire fixed where the trailer sits, or who can bring it to Stock Island between Monday and Saturday, 9am to 6pm.
