Custom Sleepers

Custom Sleepers is an auto repair shop in Grass Valley, California, at 416 Crown Point Circle #6. Its main trade is automotive work, with classic car restoration among its services. It works on motorhomes too, but only at the shop: it says "bring your motorhome to us," and it does not state that it comes to a campground or driveway. Ask whether it would ever come to your site.

For RVs, it lists plumbing, electrical system diagnostics, HVAC inspection, appliance repair, roof and awning work, slide-out repair, generator upgrades, solar panel installation and chassis repair. It also lists brakes, engines, transmissions, tires and suspensions. Its service sentence says it works on "all RVs," but the only RV type it names is the motorhome, so owners of other rigs should ask first.

It publishes no hourly rate, diagnostic fee or RV job prices, so get a number from (530) 273-8791 before you drive in. Its hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with weekends closed. Its RV wording also says "Call or come by anytime," which conflicts with those hours, so confirm before going after hours.

It is "Proudly ASE Certified," and ASE certification is a national test for automotive technicians, though it is not an RV credential. No RV-specific certification such as RVTI or NRVTA is named. It is also a Jasper Engines Installer and a Registered NAPA AutoCare Center. Its warranty covers "all labor for 6 months or 6,000 miles," so a repair that fails inside that window should not bring a second labor bill, under its terms. The owner, years in business and licensing are not named.

This is a good fit for an owner in or near Grass Valley who can drive a motorhome to a weekday shop and wants an auto shop that also does RV systems. It is not a fit for a traveler who needs someone to come to a campsite.
