The Roaming RV Tech

The Roaming RV Tech LLC is a mobile RV repair and maintenance business. It comes to you, and it serves Pelham, Hoover, Birmingham, Alabama and surrounding areas. Its phone number carries a 479 area code, so ask where the crew works from before you book.

It works on A/C, refrigerator, electrical, plumbing, furnace, water heater and slide repairs. It also does winterizing, de-winterizing, A/C service and cleaning, slide maintenance and roof inspection. Ask whether it works at campgrounds, driveways or storage lots, and which RV types and brands it handles. A slide-out or A/C that will not run often means the rig cannot be driven to a shop, which is why a tech who comes to you can save a tow.

The trip fee is the "Service Call Charge: $75.00," and the hourly rate is "Price Per Hour: $150.00." Mileage is "First 20 miles roundtrip included," with anything beyond that charged at $2.00 a mile. Parts are "Varies per repair," so there is no per-job price to budget from. It does not list hours or after-hours service, so ask about both when you call. It takes cash, debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Chris and April Hawthorn run the business. Chris "is a graduate of The NRVTA and is a Certified RV Technician," and its pages carry NRVTA (National RV Training Academy) and RVTAA (RV Technician Association of America) badges. The business calls itself "Licensed and Insured." Ask to see Chris's certification and proof of insurance before booking, because insurance is what covers your rig if it is damaged during the work. Ask whether it offers a warranty. Google rates it 5 stars from 6 reviews.

This is a good fit for an owner in Pelham, Hoover or Birmingham who wants a mobile tech for A/C, refrigerator, slide or winterizing work and will confirm the trip fee and hourly rate before booking. It also suits a traveler in that area who would rather not tow a rig with a dead slide or A/C.
